Which complaints are treatable with osteopathy?
Osteopathy looks at the functioning of the entire body. This is important because your complaint will often have a totally different cause than at first appears. Back pain can be caused for instance by intestinal problems, or an ankle joint that is immobilized due to an old dislocation. Because everything in the body is linked, all regions can be the potential “villain”. It is up to the osteopath to find out what in your particular case is the basis for the complaint.
| Region | Complaint |
| Head | Headache, migraine, tension headache, ‘whiplash’-symptoms, forehead sinus inflammation, dizziness, earache, concentration problems |
| Chest | Tightness of the chest, heart palpitations |
| Stomach | Gastrointestinal problems, stomach-ache, nausea, irritable-bowel syndrome, constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, menstruation pain, prolapse problems, incontinence problems, painful sexual intercourse, problems after a stomach operation |
| Spinal column/pelvis | Neck problems, back problems, hernia, pelvic pain, pelvic instability |
| Limbs | Sport injuries, restless legs, sprains, shoulder and hip problems, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI |
| General problems | Tiredness, despondency, menopause problems |
Complaints arising after a trauma can also be treated by osteopathy. The osteopath judges through his examination whether or not the way is clear (among others muscle chains) for a quick recovery to take place.
